Again a few weeks ago we decided to head out from clarks beach and straight out following the GPSr for 5k’s
There was a reason for following the GPSr as I had plotted the deep water with maps etc and added a waypoint to this deep water.

We finally made it after some great flat sea and put out the longline. While me mate was dropping the first hook in within seconds he yelled there’s something not right mate… I questioned then all of a sudden me fishing buddy said hell I think we got us a fish already…. I’m thinking ya dreaming mate :D

Fishing buddy decides he will pull up the fist hook before sending the rest down and bugger me up comes a decent sized kahawai… Of course while sorting that out we ended up with a bit of a mess with the line so took some time to sort that out before sending it down.

Threw the rods out with there bait and found the water wasn’t by any means that deep :( Not really thinking too hard about it and talking about how the sea floors change we sucked ourselves in to believe this was the answer…..

Decided to bring the rods in and check the long line within 20 minutes and caught some great fish…. 1 nice size snapper and 3 kahawai again a good size.
We thought we would set the line again however looking at the sun and the horizon it was time to get things on board and back to shore as it was quickly fading of light.

Within a short space of time the light had gone and we had been paddling with the in coming tide but to be honest it felt like we had been drifting sideways at times. I was completely buggered and if we had of ended up in the drink I would not have gotten back in the kayak….

Thought I had better phone the other half’s but found due to having the older spare phone and a XT Sim card it didn’t work on the newer xt network :( Shit not what we really wanted as I thought the woman would have thought we could be in trouble… As we had been paddling in we joked about the planes and helicopter that had passed over head joking it’s the rescue service looking for us :D

Finally got to shore only to be greeted with one of the wives :D

As we had been walking up from the beach I was playing with the GPS and found I had another waypoint to the right of us…. Oh shit you wouldn’t read about it would you… It was marked fishing hole!!
The one we was at had been the other waypoint were me fishing buddy had lost his rod last time we went out and capsized :) I think some had not been impressed however in my defense we had some bloody good sized fish!

A little first at what we have… two Kayaks one sea kayak and the other we use as a fishing kayak… Sit on top kayak it’s great to go fishing with and both are two men so easy to get to where you want too.

This morning I was up fairly early and we decided to go out in the sea kayak, straight from the shore across the road from home :) Paddled out to just over 2 k’s as we spotted some boats out fishing so wanted to see how things were going. All good took a waypoint with the GPSr so we know where the fish are and off to the beach we went and followed it back around to home :D Was a great morning out and glad for once we got out in the end..

later in the afternoon myself and the son in law headed out from the local boat ramp and a hot skip and a jump into the channel and fished for a couple of hours with rods. caught 3 snapper and James caught a shark!

Don’t worry we also had the long line out with 12 hooks…. and caught a further 8 snapper plus another shark….. All of which we had to throw back :( due to under size :( :(

Was a great time though and we are looking at heading out further next time as the fish are there we just need the bigger ones!

Till next time…. Smile and catch plenty of fish!
